STATEMENT: U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly on the Inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

Today, United States Senator Mark Kelly and his wife Gabrielle Giffords, former Arizona congresswoman, attended the 59th Inaugural Ceremony of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington, D.C. Kelly offered the following statement following today’s Inauguration:

“One of the hallmarks of our country is the peaceful transition of power from one administration to the next. Today, I was honored to take part in that sacred tradition. I want to congratulate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on this historic day for our nation.

“We now continue the work needed to heal and move our country forward. As Senator, I remain committed to working in a bipartisan manner to meet the needs of Arizonans who continue to struggle through this pandemic and economic crisis. I look forward to working with the Biden administration, as well as my Republican and Democratic colleagues, to rebuild our economy, effectively distribute the COVID-19 vaccine, invest in infrastructure, and create a more prosperous future for all Arizonans.”
