Senate Advances Kelly-Shaped Bipartisan Safer Communities Act
Today, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly issued the following statement after the United States Senate voted to advance his Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, common-sense legislation to expand mental health and crisis services, make communities and schools safer from gun violence, and protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.
“When I took office, I said I would work with Republicans and Democrats to deliver results for Arizonans. Our Bipartisan Safer Communities Act will save lives, make our communities safer, and protect Arizonans’ Second Amendment rights. Today, we are one step closer to getting that bipartisan bill across the finish line. I’ll keep working with Republicans and Democrats, as well as the administration, to get our bill signed into law,” said Senator Kelly.
Kelly, a 25-year Navy veteran, is part of the group of 20 bipartisan Senators who negotiated the framework of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
