Kelly Statement on the Senate’s Failure to Move Forward National Security, Border Package
Arizona Senator Mark Kelly issued the following statement today after the Senate failed to advance a package that includes resources and Border Patrol staffing to respond to the crisis on the border, as well as aid for Ukraine and Israel:
“The Senate’s failure today is everything that is wrong with Washington. The border resources and Border Patrol staffing that were blocked by Senate Republicans are desperately needed to help respond to the crisis in Arizona, especially given record crossings in the Tucson Sector and the closure of the Lukeville Port of Entry.
“There’s no reason why we can’t pass these urgently needed resources for the border and support our allies Israel and Ukraine, while getting to work on long-term solutions to fix our broken immigration system.
“Despite these obstacles, I’ll continue working with Republicans and Democrats to address the needs on our southern border and the foreign threats in front of us.”
