Kelly Statement on Congress Passing Temporary Measure to Avert a Government Shutdown

Arizona Senator Mark Kelly released the following statement today after the Senate voted to pass a Continuing Resolution that will fund the government through November 17, 2023: 

“It’s ridiculous that, once again, Congress has barely averted a government shutdown. We got here because, for too long, Republicans in the House of Representatives refused to work together with Democrats. It’s past time for folks to get to work on a bipartisan solution that fully funds the government, protects our national security, and provides relief for the border.     

“I’m extremely disappointed that partisan dysfunction prevented Congress from extending U.S. support for Ukraine at such an important moment in their counteroffensive. There is strong bipartisan support in both chambers to keep backing Ukraine and we must work urgently to get them the weapons and support they need to beat Putin.”
