Kelly Leads Bipartisan Delegation to Finland and Baltics to Strengthen NATO Alliances and Regional Security
This week, U.S. Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, is leading a bipartisan Congressional delegation to Finland and the Baltics, alongside Reps. Mike Rogers (R-AL-03), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and Adam Smith (D-WA-09), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee. This trip is focused on the United States’ commitment to its NATO allies and the security of the Baltic region, especially in light of the ongoing threat posed by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
During the visit, the delegation will engage with key leaders in each country, including heads of state, defense ministers, parliamentary leaders, partner militaries, and other senior officials. The discussions will focus on NATO’s deterrence and defense efforts in Northern Europe as well as U.S. and allied support to Ukraine.
“Strengthening our alliances and ensuring the security of our NATO partners is crucial, especially as we face an increasingly aggressive Russia,” said Kelly. “This trip is an important opportunity to assess how we can continue bolstering our collective defense, learn from our allies’ experiences, and explore new strategies to ensure the safety and stability of our territories.”
In addition to Kelly, Rogers, and Smith, the delegation includes Senator Ted Budd (R-NC), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee; Representative Dale Strong (R-AL-05), a member of the House Armed Services Committee; and Representative Ritchie Torres (D-NY-15), a member of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
