After Meeting with Kelly in Arizona, EPA Zeldin Acts on Key State Environmental Priority
This week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that they are making it easier for states like Arizona to show that foreign, not U.S.-based air pollution, is harming communities on the U.S. side of the border.
The announcement comes after Arizona Senator Mark Kelly brought Administrator Zeldin to Phoenix last month where they met with the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, local officials, and state stakeholders to discuss solutions that give Arizona the resources and flexibility to continue to grow while improving air quality.
“When we welcomed Administrator Zeldin to Phoenix in March, a key topic of discussion was the need to modernize EPA guidance and cut red tape for local governments and businesses. I’m glad that Administrator Zeldin heard these concerns and took action,” said Kelly. “This decision is one more step forward to help improve our state’s air quality and keep growing the economy.”
