Last week, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly visited St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix to join volunteers in a Holiday Food Packing Event and discuss food affordability for low-income families, highlighting the importance of food banks and assistance organizations like St. Mary’s that Arizonans can rely on in a time of need.
One in five children in Arizona face food insecurity. Kelly has been a critical leader in efforts to address rising food prices and will continue to advocate for strong federal funding for Arizona’s Food Bank Network and other programs to combat food insecurity.
Kelly later visited the Phoenix VA Medical Center where he was briefed by staff about implementation of the PACT Act in Arizona and then visited long-term care residents and dropped off holiday gifts.
As a veteran himself, Kelly has frequently highlighted the need to improve health care and support services for veterans. In 2022, Kelly helped pass the PACT Act to expand health care benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances, and he remains committed to ensuring Arizona veterans receive the care and benefits they have earned.
