Kelly, Sinema: Nearly $10 Million for Bisbee’s Copper Queen Community Hospital Expansion

Investment will expand Copper Queen Community Hospital in Bisbee – strengthening Southeastern Arizonans’ access to health care and creating jobs

Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema announced that $9,937,500 is coming to Arizona to expand Bisbee’s Copper Queen Community Hospital – strengthening Southeastern Arizonans’ access to health care and creating strong jobs in the community.

The investment was awarded through the Emergency Rural Health Care Grants Program created by the Kelly and Sinema-shaped American Rescue Plan law. It is expected to benefit nearly 28,000 Arizonans.

“Arizonans in every corner of our state need access to quality health care. Rural hospitals like Copper Queen are primed to take advantage of investments that allow health professionals to treat more patients and provide better care. This funding will improve health outcomes for thousands of Arizonans who call Cochise County home,” said Senator Kelly

“Today’s funds will expand Bisbee’s Copper Queen Community Hospital – improving access to high-quality health care for Southeastern Arizonans and fueling economic opportunities in the region,” said Sinema.

The nearly $10 million investment will be used to construct an addition to Copper Queen Community Hospital that will house operating rooms, pre- and post-operative areas, sterile processing area, and a new inpatient beds unit.

Once the addition is completed, the hospital will relocate services from the current facility and department areas will be repurposed for outpatient behavioral health care with tele-psych, specialty physician offices, an expanded pharmacy, and an educational and training center for staff.
