$300K Investment Coming to Chandler Municipal Airport from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law led by Sinema and shaped by Kelly provides $300,000 to improve weather forecasting and enhance safety
Chandler Municipal Airport will receive a $300,000 investment from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law led by Senator Kyrsten Sinema and shaped by Senator Mark Kelly.
The investment, awarded through the Airport Infrastructure Grant program in Sinema and Kelly’s infrastructure law, will be used to install an automated weather observing system to enhance the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations by providing accurate, current, and site-specific weather information. The project also installs new runway lights to make the airport safer and more accessible.
“Our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will support Chandler Municipal Airport as they make important upgrades that boost safety and improve efficiency,” said Senator Kelly.
“I’m proud to announce my bipartisan infrastructure law improves weather forecasting tools at Chandler Municipal Airport, strengthening airport operations, safety, and efficiency,” said Sinema, co-author and lead negotiator of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law includes a historic $25 billion in additional investments for aviation infrastructure. The bipartisan law provides $15 billion for priority projects at every airport in the United States,$5 billion in competitive grants for terminal development and other landside projects, and $5 billion in grants for strengthening Air Traffic Control towers and infrastructure.
In the year since Sinema and Kelly’s bipartisan bill was signed into law, over $69 million has gone to repairs and upgrades across Arizona airports.
Sinema led bipartisan Senate negotiations with Republican Senator Rob Portman of Ohio that included Senator Kelly and other senators from both parties.
The bipartisan infrastructure law was supported by groups including The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable, The National Association of Manufacturers, The AFL-CIO, The National Retail Federation, The Bipartisan Policy Center, North America’s Building Trades Unions, the Outdoor Industry Association, The American Hotel and Lodging Association, The National Education Association, as well as hundreds of mayors across all 50 states.
