Sen. Kelly Departs on Bipartisan Senate Delegation Trip to Abraham Accords Countries

Today, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly will join U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV), James Lankford (R-OK), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), and Ted Budd (R-NC) on a bipartisan delegation trip to the Abraham Accords member countries of Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Morocco. In visiting these countries, the Senators will see firsthand how the Abraham Accords have led to increased regional integration and cooperation, and they will discuss ways in which these Accords can be strengthened and expanded to include other countries.

Kelly, a Navy combat veteran, serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee and chairs the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities. Over the last two years, Kelly has played a leading role in crafting the annual defense bill. Kelly advocated for and secured critical resources to support military servicemembers around the world, investments in technology to maintain our competitive edge over China and Russia, as well as increased security cooperation with allies and partners including to counter threats from Iran and Iranian-linked groups. Additionally, Kelly has been a vocal supporter of measures that enable Israel to defend itself such as the Iron Dome short-range rocket defense system, David’s Sling Weapon System, and Arrow 3 Upper Tier Interceptor Program.

Last year, during a time of heightened global tension, Kelly traveled to Europe and Asia on a nine-day congressional delegation where he met with Ukrainian refugees, U.S. servicemembers, and American military leadership in Poland and Germany to see how the U.S. could better support Ukraine and NATO allies after Russia’s illegal invasion.
