Tribal Resources

Arizona is proudly home to 22 federally recognized Native American tribes. A map of the tribal nations located throughout the state can be found here. Senator Mark Kelly has worked to make sure the needs of Arizona’s tribal communities are addressed in Washington.

After taking office, he went right to work supporting tribal communities that were hit hard by the pandemic. Senator Kelly shaped the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to include significant resources for improving tribal roadways, increasing access to high-speed internet on Arizona reservations, and fully funding tribal water settlements. He also secured federal funding to open the first long-term care facility on the Navajo Nation. Senator Kelly will continue to work on important tribal priorities in the Senate.

HEALTH CARE

Small Business Administration: The Department’s Office of Native American Affairs offers resources to promote and support Native American entrepreneurs.

American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona: The Chamber serves as an economic engine and community resource for tribal businesses across Arizona.

American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association: Provides technical assistance and training, research, and publications to tribal communities engaged in tourism and hospitality.

HOUSING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Indian Housing’s Office of Native American Programs: U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) resources for affordable housing on tribal reservations.
National American Indian Housing Council: Advocates for housing opportunities and increased funding for Native American housing and community development programs.
Native American Connections: Owns and operates 21 sites throughout Central Phoenix offering affordable housing, health, and community development services.

VETERANS

VA Benefits and Programs for Native American Veterans: Federal benefits and programs offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to Native American veterans and their families.
Tribal HUD-VASH: A joint program between the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to offer a permanent home and supportive services to Native American veterans.

ENVIRONMENT

Arizona Department of Environmental Quality: Information about how the department consults with tribes to protect public health and the environment.
Tribal Historic Preservation Office Program: The National Park Service assists tribes in preserving historic properties and cultural traditions.
Native American Fish and Wildlife Society: Assists Native American tribes with the conservation, protection, and enhancement of fish and wildlife resources.

LEGAL

Native American Disability Law Center: Private nonprofit organization that advocates for the legal rights of Native Americans with disabilities.
Native American Rights Fund: Provides legal assistance to Indian tribes, organizations, and individuals nationwide who might otherwise have gone without adequate representation.

Inter Tribal Council of Arizona: Provides a united voice for tribal governments located in the State of Arizona to address common issues of concerns.
National Congress of American Indians: The oldest and largest organization made up of American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments and their citizens to advocate on their behalf.
Governor’s Office on Tribal Relations: The office assists state agencies in implementing tribal consultation and outreach activities.
Indian Nations and Tribes Legislative Day: The Governor’s Office on Tribal Relations, in cooperation with representatives from the state’s Tribal Nations, facilitates an Indian Nations and Tribes Legislative Day on Wednesday of the first week of each regular legislative session.
