After Consumer Prices Report, Kelly Urges Action on His Legislation to Ease Supply Chain

Today, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly issued this statement following an announcement from the U.S. Department of Labor on consumer price increases.

“For months, I’ve heard from Arizonans who are struggling with higher costs. It’s why I‘ve continued to push this administration to take immediate steps to bring down rising costs and why I’m working in the Senate to deliver relief for Arizona families, whether it’s by cutting the federal gas tax, boosting our trucking workforce, or bringing back American jobs and manufacturing to reduce our reliance on foreign countries,” said Senator Kelly.

“We know that supply chain issues are driving up the price of everything from a pound of ground beef to cars. Fixing these supply chain bottlenecks should be Washington’s number one priority as it will bring Arizona families relief from higher prices, create good-paying jobs, and allow our economy to get back on track,” concluded Kelly.

In the Senate, Kelly has worked to lower rising costs for Arizona families by tackling supply chain issues driving up prices for goods and food. He has successfully pressed the administration to address the trucking workforce and meatpacking competition issues. Yesterday, Kelly introduced the Gas Prices Relief Act, legislation to lower high gas prices by eliminating the federal gas tax through the end of the year, bringing much-needed economic relief to families across Arizona and the country. Kelly has introduced the LICENSE Act, a bipartisan bill that would cut red tape and increase the number of truck drivers transporting essential goods and supplies across the country.

In addition, last week, the House passed legislation which includes Kelly’s deal to boost domestic manufacturing of microchip technology amid a global microchip shortage increasing the cost of things like cars and other goods.
