ICYMI: Senator Mark Kelly Focuses on Skills Training at Tour of Pima Community College

Yesterday, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly continued his focus on rebuilding and reinventing Arizona’s economy and getting Arizonans the training and skills they need with a tour of the Pima Community College (PCC) Downtown Campus in Tucson. The campus is home to a number of workforce programs, including the Center of Excellence for Applied Technology. Kelly met with PCC leaders to learn more about their workforce development programs and their federal priorities. 

The group toured the new Automotive Technology and Innovative Center, a high-tech training facility working in partnership with business and industry. The facility houses programs in automotive technology, diesel technology and electronic vehicle technology. The Senator and PCC officials discussed how they can work together to ensure the college “moves at the speed of business” and can help meet the growing demand for a workforce certified and skilled in today’s technology. Kelly emphasized his work in the Senate to invest in career and technical education, and ultimately create more good-paying jobs in Arizona.

Kelly was joined on the tour by Cat Ripley, Governing Board Member at Pima Community College; Demion Clinco, PCC Governing Board Member Chair; David Doré, President of Campuses and Executive Vice Chancellor for Student Experience & Workforce; Lee Lambert, PCC CEO and Chancellor, and other PCC leadership.
