Senator Kelly Speaks with Governor Ducey about COVID-19, Arizona Priorities

Today, Senator Mark Kelly spoke with Governor Doug Ducey about the rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Arizona, the strain that is putting on hospitals and health care workers, and what can be done to slow the spread of the virus.

Kelly and Ducey also discussed plans for distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in Arizona, priorities for growing Arizona’s economy including semiconductor manufacturing, and progress on bipartisan COVID relief from Washington.

“Today, Governor Ducey and I spoke about how we’re combatting the virus in Arizona, including vaccine distribution in the state and the strain that rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are putting on our health care system,” said Senator Kelly. “I reiterated my support for additional mitigation efforts to slow the spread of the virus, including what I have heard from Mayors about ensuring they have the tools to protect their communities and additional staffing needs in Arizona’s hospitals.”

Kelly continued, “This week I am continuing to work with both Republicans and Democrats to find a compromise on additional COVID-19 relief for Arizona, and as we navigate this crisis and beyond I look forward to speaking often with Governor Ducey about ways we can work together for Arizona.”
